New Funkscribe release features Mike Theiss

The new Funkscribe album "Synthesized Soul" features horn arrangements and performances by Mike Theiss on four tracks. Mike is featured on "Is the Funk in Your DNA," "White House," "Iceberg Slim" and "2 Dimensional Reality."

Mike takes a ride on the Mothership!

Last Saturday, November 18th, Mike had the honor of performing with the 420 Funk Mob featuring George Clinton at Jazzbone's in Tacoma, WA. Altered States of Funk co-conspirators Anthony "Funkscribe" Warner and Alana "The Duchess of Funk" Orr also went along for the ride.

"It was incredible to have the opportunity to perform with George Clinton and the 420 Funk Mob," Mike said. "I've been collecting P-Funk records and going to their shows for years. Those guys are some of my all time favorite musicians, so it really was a dream come true."

Mike served as a one man horn section, performing on several P-Funk classics including "Mothership Connection", "Give Up the Funk", "Up For the Down Stroke" and "Let's Take it To the Stage." The band included Garry "Starchild" Shider, Michael "Clip" Payne, Michael "Kidd Funkadelic" Hampton, Lige Curry and Gabe "The Undisco Kidd" Gonzales.

The new Mike Theiss CD Doityourselfincrimination is available now and can be ordered online through this Web site. Doityourselfincrimination features Mike playing alto and tenor saxophone, clavinet, Hammond organ, Wurlitzer electric piano and various other instruments. The album was recorded and mixed by Mike in his home studio in Lynnwood, WA, then mastered by Ryan Foster at Freq Mastering in Portland, OR. Mike's brother, Bryan "Frankenseuss" Theiss created the front cover art and collaborated with Mike on other elements of the packaging. Bryan has also worked on a number of projects for guitarist Buckethead. Janice L. Parker contributed most of the photography featured in the CD packaging. Get it now!
